Taste the Difference: authentic flavor and cuisine
The elegance of our lodgings is matched by the complex, local flavors created by the culinary masters you’ll encounter on every Guided Walking and Private tour. We embrace the Slow Food movement and cherish local dishes that take time to grow, time to cook, and time to eat.
You might sample slowly braised beef served with homemade gnocchi in a tavern on the Dalmatian Coast, or indulge in Beijing’s signature delicacy—a delicious banquet of Peking duck. Savor the complex smells and flavors of a complete Indian meal. Sit down at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Spain’s Basque region. Feast on freshly caught Pacific salmon, Walla Walla sweet onions, and tiny strawberries coupled with fine regional wines while exploring Washington’s Olympic Peninsula. And, to complete the experience—local beer or wine is always included with dinners on Country Walkers Guided Adventures!
Since cuisine is both a product of the land and ingrained in it’s landscape, people, and culture, we take time to learn about the origins of the local food and drinks. Tours include cheese tastings, wine tastings, and visits to small-scale producers of local crops and specialties. Relish a private tasting as you learn about grappa at Italy’s oldest distillery, make savory dumplings with a local family in China, join a cooking class in Piedmont, Italy, and enjoy the fruits of your labor with a festive lunch.
Country Walkers Self-Guided Walking & Self-Guided Biking tours include continental breakfasts and some hotel dinners that feature regional specialties. Where to eat lunch is up to you, however know that our local staff is happy to recommend fine restaurants along the way!
Exquisite dining on our Small Ship Cruising expeditions takes place both onboard and at fine restaurants on shore, depending on the itinerary and destination. Onboard dining features American-style and local, regional cuisine prepared by talented chefs.
